I am greatly impressed by erudition, lucid style, and skill to produce a synthetic and readable account of many different ideas and views… This is certainly an admirable tour de force in scholarship.

In Search of Immortality has the virtue of bringing together elements that are often relegated to the separate fields of religion and philosophy….This distinguishes his work from the books in the field which more typically focus exclusively on either religion or philosophy rather than both at the same time. Dasgupta has done an admirable job of trying to make this enormous field of study accessible.

I loved this book…An excellent review of the foundations of Indic thought, which should be useful to both the novice and the sophisticated reader.

Dasgupta chronicles the evolution of quintessential elements of Indian philosophical thought… I highly recommend this book.
